Psychiatric Treatments

Whether you’re just starting your mental health journey or feeling stuck with a psychiatric treatment plan that isn’t working, I offer something different: a thoughtful, whole-person approach that includes medication management, psychodynamic therapy, and interventional options like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).

A Personalized Path to Healing

I offer three psychiatric treatment options that can be used individually or together, depending on your needs.

Medication Management

Some patients come to me because they’re exploring medication for the first time. Others because their medications aren’t helping.

My approach to prescribing is thoughtful and deliberate.

I take the time to review your treatment history, symptoms, and side effects. When medication is the appropriate psychiatric treatment path, my goal is to find the lowest effective dose with the fewest side effects.

Just as important, we’ll discuss if and when you should taper or stop taking medication, so you’re never left on autopilot.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

The goal of psychodynamic psychotherapy is to make the unconscious conscious. Whether it’s a destructive behavior or an unconscious influence that no longer serves you, change only occurs when you understand where those unproductive impulses come from.

To gain clarity, we’ll explore your early relationships and how they’ve shaped your sense of self, your view of others, and how you experience the world. From there, we’ll examine recurring dynamics in your life and assess whether those patterns are serving you or holding you back.

This work takes time, but the outcomes are lasting. My patients often say this form of psychiatric treatment has helped them develop a stronger sense of self, healthier boundaries, deeper relationships, and a newfound sense of freedom.

Holistic Strategies

If traditional psychiatric approaches haven’t brought the relief you hoped for, a broader, more integrative strategy may be helpful. When appropriate, I look beyond medication to incorporate supportive practices such as sleep optimization, nutrition, and stress reduction.

Some patients may also benefit from interventional treatments offered through Paxina Health, my interventional psychiatry practice.

These include Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a non-invasive, FDA-approved therapy that targets specific brain circuits and is often associated with fewer systemic side effects than medication.

Heal the Whole You

What to Expect From My Approach to Psychiatric Treatment

Knowing what to expect from your care plan doesn’t just ease uncertainty—it builds trust. While every patient is unique, this is how I generally approach psychiatric treatment:

Consider the Bigger Picture

We’ll begin by talking through what’s going on: your symptoms, treatment history, and side effects (if you are currently taking medication). But we’ll also zoom out and discuss your lifestyle, sleep patterns, relationship patterns, and general wellness. All of it matters when creating a psychiatric treatment plan that actually works.

Make Decisions Together

I’ll walk you through your treatment options and help you weigh the pros and cons of each. But I’ll never make the final decision about your care plan. This is a collaborative process where your input shapes every decision.

Build a Plan That Fits

If we decide medication is part of the plan, we’ll begin with the Minimum Effective Dose—the smallest amount needed to provide relief with the fewest side effects. And we’ll walk through other options too, like therapy, TMS, or holistic strategies.

Ongoing Evaluation & Adjustments

My psychiatric treatment plans are never set in stone. We’ll regularly reassess and adjust as your needs evolve. Whether that means fine-tuning a dose, tapering a medication, or trying a new approach, the goal is always the same: sustainable, long-term relief.

My Approach to Psychiatric Treatment

Curiosity Over Assumptions

Lasting wellness begins with active listening. Our initial session is typically two hours long, allowing us to explore not only what’s happening but also why it’s happening. Together, we’ll build a psychiatric treatment plan that considers the full context of your life, not just the symptoms.

Collaboration Over Control

You’re not here to be told what to do. You’re here to recover through collaborative care. We make psychiatric treatment decisions together. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, trauma, ADHD, addiction, or complex diagnoses like bipolar disorder, we will find a solution together.

Whole-Person Care Over Checklists

I am qualified to prescribe medications and often do. But I also consider the bigger picture: your background, lifestyle, and relationship dynamics. This deeper understanding helps uncover the root causes of your distress, allowing us to pursue psychiatric services aligned with you, not a mental health handbook.

What You’ll Gain From the Psychiatric Treatment

Effective psychiatric treatment isn’t just about managing symptoms—it’s about helping you feel more like yourself again. Whether we’re using medication, psychotherapy, interventional strategies, or a combination, my patients typically walk away with:

More Effective Care

Your treatment will be guided by evidence, not trial and error. Together, we’ll find the most effective approach for your unique biology, psychology, and life circumstances.

Lasting Relief

Many patients describe a deeper sense of calm, confidence, and ease in daily life—not because symptoms are masked, but because treatment targets the root causes of distress.

A Clearer Plan

If you’ve been prescribed multiple medications in the past, we’ll look at whether your regimen can be streamlined. My philosophy is that every prescription either has a clear purpose, or it doesn’t stay in the plan.

Stronger Self-Understanding

Through therapy and collaborative care, you’ll gain insight into your patterns, boundaries, and beliefs. That clarity helps build better relationships with others and with yourself.

Long-Term Strategy

From the start, we consider not just how to begin treatment but when and how to safely taper or transition off if appropriate. The goal is always sustainability, not indefinite prescriptions.

Ready to Take the First Step?

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for a deeper understanding of your mental health challenges, let’s talk. Together, we’ll clarify what’s going on and what comes next.

My private practice operates outside insurance networks, allowing for longer appointments and highly individualized care.
